A/Prof Chen is a Consultant Nephrologist at Westmead Hospital, Visiting Medical Officer at Norwest Private Hospital, and Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. She graduated from the Australian National University and completed her PhD at the University of Sydney, with research focused on kidney inflammation and immune-mediated kidney disease.
A/Prof Chen provides comprehensive nephrology care, with expertise in chronic kidney disease, hypertension, acute kidney injury, dialysis, kidney transplantation, and glomerular diseases. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and working closely with patients and referring doctors to optimise long-term kidney health outcomes.
In addition to her clinical practice, A/Prof Chen is an internationally recognised medical educator, researcher, and leader in nephrology. She holds leadership roles within the International Society of Nephrology and the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology, contributing to global initiatives in kidney health, medical education, workforce development, and improving access to kidney care in low- and middle-income countries.
A/Prof Chen has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and educational resources, and is a regular invited speaker, chair, and moderator at national and international conferences. She has received numerous national and international awards in recognition of her contributions to research, education, and academic excellence. Passionate about developing the next generation of healthcare professionals, she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students, junior doctors, advanced trainees, and early-career nephrologists.
